Ingredients

  • Egg noodles – 12 oz / 340 g
  • Pork or shrimp for wontons – 8 oz / 225 g
  • Wonton wrappers – 1 package (about 50 sheets)
  • Ginger, minced – 1 Tbsp / 15 g
  • Garlic, minced – 1 Tbsp / 15 g
  • Soy sauce – 3 Tbsp / 45 ml
  • Sesame oil – 1 Tbsp / 15 ml
  • Chicken broth – 8 cups / 1.9 liters
  • Scallions, chopped – 2 stalks
  • Salt – to taste
  • White pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix pork or shrimp, ginger, garlic, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and sesame oil to make the filling.
  2. Place a small spoonful of filling in each wonton wrapper and seal edges with water.
  3. Boil chicken broth with remaining soy sauce, salt, and white pepper in a pot.
  4. Cook wontons in the broth until they float, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Cook noodles in a separate pot of boiling water for about 3 minutes or until al dente.
  6. Drain noodles and divide among bowls.
  7. Divide wontons and broth over the noodles and garnish with chopped scallions.
