Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 4 cups / 500 g
- instant yeast – 2 tsp / 7 g
- sugar – 2 tbsp / 30 g
- salt – 1 tsp / 5 g
- warm water – 1 1/2 cups / 360 ml
- vegetable oil – for frying, about 4 cups / 1 L
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until elastic.
- Put the dough back into the bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into golf ball-sized pieces.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop the dough pieces into the hot oil and fry them until golden brown, turning occasionally.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm, filled with savory mince, curried chicken, or sweet fillings of your choice.
