Ingredients
- beef or lamb – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
- onion – 2 large, finely chopped
- garlic cloves – 4, minced
- vegetable oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
- beef broth – 2 cups / 480 ml
- salt – 1 tsp / 5 g
- black pepper – 1/2 tsp / 2.5 g
- paprika – 1 tsp / 5 g
- bay leaves – 2
- pita bread – 4 pieces
- plain yogurt – 1 cup / 240 g
- fresh parsley – for garnish, chopped
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add the beef or lamb, season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook until the meat is browned.
- Pour in the beef broth, add bay leaves, and let it simmer on low heat for 45 minutes until the meat is tender.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the pita bread on a baking tray. Bake for 5-10 minutes until slightly crispy.
- Serve meat on top of the crispy pita bread, drizzled with yogurt and garnished with fresh parsley.
