Ingredients

  • Spaghetti – 400 g / 14 oz
  • Ground beef – 500 g / 1 lb
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1 medium / 150 g
  • Garlic, minced – 3 cloves
  • Tomato paste – 2 tablespoons / 30 g
  • Canned tomatoes – 400 g / 14 oz
  • Ground cumin – 1 teaspoon / 2 g
  • Ground coriander – 1 teaspoon / 2 g
  • Ground cinnamon – 1/2 teaspoon / 1 g
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon / 1 g
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped – 1/4 cup / 15 g

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned evenly.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, canned tomatoes, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  6. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 20-25 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  7. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top before serving.
