- onion – 1 large / 200 g, sliced
- garlic cloves – 4 / 20 g, minced
- vegetable broth – 2 cups / 480 ml
- bay leaves – 2
- whole cloves – 4
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds, ensuring even coverage.
- In a large roasting pan, place the sliced onion and minced garlic.
- Position the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the vegetables.
- Pour the vegetable broth into the pan and add the bay leaves and cloves.
- Roast in the oven for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally with the pan juices, until the meat is tender and the skin is crispy.
- Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 15 minutes to enhance the crispiness of the skin.
- Allow the meat to rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving with your choice of sides.
