- egg – 1 large
- semisweet chocolate chips – 1 cup / 175 g
- egg (for egg wash) – 1 large (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, the large egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
- Gradually add flour to the mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and knead in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape into balls, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the shaped dough and let it rise again for 30 minutes.

- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
