Ingredients

  • canned sardines in tomato sauce – 1 can / 155 g
  • onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
  • red chili – 1, finely sliced
  • coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
  • lime juice – 1 tbsp
  • salt – to taste
  • roti canai (or puff pastry) – 4 sheets
  • oil – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Open the canned sardines, drain excess sauce, and mash the sardines in a bowl.
  2. Add the chopped onion, red chili, and coriander leaves to the mashed sardines.
  3. Stir in lime juice and salt, mixing everything well.
  4. Lay a sheet of roti canai or puff pastry on a flat surface.
  5. Place a generous spoonful of sardine mixture in the center.
  6. Fold the pastry edges, sealing the filling inside.
  7. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  8. Cook the filled roti on each side until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Serve hot, optionally with a side of lime wedges.
