Ingredients

  • Trappista cheese – 500 g / 17.6 oz
  • All-purpose flour – 1 cup / 120 g
  • Eggs – 3 large
  • Breadcrumbs – 2 cups / 200 g
  • Vegetable oil – For frying
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper – 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Slice the cheese into thick sticks, about 1 cm wide.
  2. Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs with salt and pepper in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.
  3. Coat each piece of cheese first in flour, then dip it in eggs, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs, ensuring full coverage.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Fry the cheese sticks in batches, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels; serve hot.
