Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour – 5 cups / 625 g
  • active dry yeast – 2 teaspoons / 7 g
  • lukewarm water – 2 cups / 480 ml
  • sugar – 1 tablespoon / 15 g
  • salt – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
  • vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour and salt into the yeast mixture gradually, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
