Mie Aceh is a spicy noodle dish originating from Aceh, a region in the northernmost part of Sumatra, Indonesia. Ingredients

  • Yellow noodles – 400 g
  • Beef – 200 g, thinly sliced
  • Shrimp – 200 g, deveined
  • Onion – 1 large, chopped
  • Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
  • Curry powder – 2 tablespoons
  • Chili paste – 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce – 2 tablespoons
  • Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) – 2 tablespoons
  • Bean sprouts – 100 g
  • Green onions – 2, chopped
  • Tomatoes – 2 medium, diced
  • Cabbage – 100 g, shredded
  • Cooking oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Salt – to taste
  • Lime – 1, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Cook the yellow noodles according to the package instructions and set aside.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large wok over medium-high heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the beef slices and stir-fry until browned. Then add the shrimp and continue to cook until they turn pink.
  4. Stir in the curry powder and chili paste, cooking for about 1 minute until aromatic.
  5. Add the soy sauce, kecap manis, tomatoes, cabbage, and stir well to combine.
  6. Add the cooked noodles, bean sprouts, and green onions. Toss everything together to ensure the noodles are evenly coated with the sauce.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over.
