Ingredients

  • Green cabbage – 1 large head
  • Ground beef – 500 g / 1 lb
  • Ground pork – 250 g / 0.5 lb
  • Cooked rice – 1 cup / 200 g
  • Onion – 1, minced
  • Egg – 1
  • Milk – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
  • Butter – 2 tbsp / 28 g
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • Soy sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Beef broth – 1 cup / 240 ml
  • Lingonberry jam – for serving
  • Potatoes – for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Remove the cabbage core and boil the head in a large pot of water until leaves are soft. Carefully separate leaves and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, minced onion, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and soy sauce until well combined.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides and roll up to enclose the filling completely.
  5. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat and lightly brown the rolled cabbage parcels.
  6. Arrange cabbage rolls in a baking dish, pour beef broth over them, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with lingonberry jam and boiled potatoes.
