Ingredients
- Fresh crabs – 4 medium-sized / approximately 1.5 kg
- Red chili peppers – 6 pieces, finely chopped

- Shallots – 4 pieces, finely chopped
- Tomato ketchup – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
- Sweet soy sauce – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
- Oyster sauce – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
- Lime – 1 piece, juiced
- Cooking oil – 3 tablespoons / 45 ml
- Salt – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon / 15 g
- Water – 1 cup / 240 ml
Instructions
- Clean the crabs thoroughly and cut in half. Crack the claws for easier eating.
- Heat cooking oil in a large wok over medium heat.
- Sauté shallots, garlic, and chili peppers until fragrant.
- Add the water, tomato ketchup, sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and sugar into the wok. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a boil and then reduce the heat. Add the crabs into the sauce.
- Stir the crabs gently to coat them evenly with the sauce. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the crabs are fully cooked.
- Squeeze lime juice over the crabs and stir again before serving hot.

- Sweet soy sauce -> Regular soy sauce, but add a tablespoon of sugar
- Fresh crabs -> Frozen crabs (thawed)
