- Fresh basil leaves – Handful
- Pecorino Romano cheese, grated – 60 g / 2 oz

Instructions
- Cook the fregnacce pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the canned tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon. Stir in the chili flakes and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes until it thickens. Adjust the seasoning as necessary.
