Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 4 cups / 480 g
- seaweed (dulse or nori) – 1/2 cup / 20 g, chopped finely
- active dry yeast – 2 tsp / 7 g
- warm water – 1 1/2 cups / 360 ml
- sea salt – 1 tsp / 5 g
- sugar – 1 tbsp / 12 g
- olive oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, chopped seaweed, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch the dough down, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Allow the loaf to rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
