Ingredients

- sugar – 1 tbsp / 12 g
- salt – 1/4 tsp / 1.5 g
- all-purpose flour – 1 cup / 125 g
- large eggs – 3
- vegetable oil – for frying
- cinnamon sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 g
- chocolate sauce – for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat; let cool for 5 minutes before beating in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Transfer dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Heat oil in a large pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe 6-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, using scissors to cut off the dough. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Roll churros in cinnamon sugar while still warm. Serve immediately with chocolate sauce if desired.
