Ingredients
- phyllo dough – 500 g
- feta cheese – 400 g, crumbled
- cottage cheese – 200 g
- eggs – 2
- milk – 100 ml / 1/2 cup
- olive oil – 100 ml / 1/2 cup
- salt – to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled feta, cottage cheese, eggs, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well blended.
- Grease a baking dish with olive oil. Lay a sheet of phyllo dough on the bottom, brushing lightly with oil, and repeat with two more sheets.
- Spread a layer of the cheese mixture onto the phyllo.
- Add three more sheets, brushing each with oil, then repeat the cheese layer. Continue layering until the mixture is used up, finishing with several phyllo layers on top.
- Beat the milk with a little olive oil and pour it over the burek to ensure moisture while baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares or slices.
