Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 4 cups / 480 g
- warm water – 1 1/2 cups / 360 ml
- active dry yeast – 2 1/4 tsp / 7 g
- olive oil – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
- salt – 2 tsp / 12 g
- sugar – 1 tbsp / 12 g
- sliced salami – 150 g
- provolone cheese, cubed – 150 g
- black pepper – 1 tsp / 2 g
- optional: hard-boiled eggs – 2, sliced
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and sprinkle in yeast. Let stand until frothy, about 10 minutes.
- Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture, then stir in flour gradually to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, spread salami and cheese evenly across the surface, and sprinkle with pepper.
- Carefully roll up the dough into a log and join the ends to form a ring.
- Transfer to a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
