Ingredients
- Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
- Onion – 1 large, finely chopped
- Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- Ground beef – 1 pound / 454 g
- Tomato paste – 3 tablespoons
- Canned tomatoes – 1 can (14 ounces / 400 g), crushed
- Beef stock – 1 cup / 240 ml
- Ground cumin – 1 teaspoon
- Ground coriander – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Black pepper – to taste
- Fresh cilantro – 2 tablespoons, chopped
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat and add the ground beef, cooking until it is browned all over.
- Stir in the tomato paste, crushed canned tomatoes, and beef stock. Add the ground cumin and ground coriander.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce the heat, and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the freshly chopped cilantro just before serving.
