Ingredients

- egg yolks – 4
- salt – 1/2 tsp
- vegetable oil – for frying
- jelly or custard – 1 cup for filling
- powdered sugar – for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add the warmed milk, melted butter, and egg yolks to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a round cutter to cut out 12 circles.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the dough circles into the hot oil, frying them for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the doughnuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Fill each doughnut with jelly or custard using a piping bag and a narrow tip.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
