Spam is a beloved canned meat that has become a staple in American households since its introduction in 1937 by Hormel Foods. Originally created out of necessity to preserve meat during times when refrigeration was limited, Spam now boasts a distinctive place in American cuisine. Ingredients
- Spam – 12 oz / 340 g
- eggs – 4 large
- butter – 2 tbsp / 28 g
- white bread – 4 slices
- cheddar cheese – 4 slices
- salt – to taste
- black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Slice the Spam into four even slices.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
- Once the butter melts, add the Spam slices and cook until each side is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- While the Spam is cooking, beat the eggs in a bowl, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- In the same skillet, pour the beaten eggs and scramble, gently stirring until they are cooked through.
- Toast the slices of white bread.
- Assemble the sandwich by layering scrambled eggs, a slice of cheddar cheese, and cooked Spam between two slices of toasted bread.
- Serve warm.
