Ingredients

  • barley – 1 cup / 200 g
  • lotus seeds – 1/2 cup / 100 g
  • dried lily bulbs – 1/2 cup / 50 g
  • dried fox nuts (Euryale seeds) – 1/2 cup / 50 g
  • rock sugar – 1/4 cup / 50 g
  • water – 8 cups / 1920 ml

Instructions

  1. Rinse barley, lotus seeds, dried lily bulbs, and dried fox nuts under cold water to remove impurities.
  2. In a large pot, combine all ingredients except rock sugar, and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 1.5 hours or until all ingredients are tender.
  4. Stir in rock sugar and boil for an additional 10 minutes until dissolved.
  5. Serve hot, as a nourishing dessert or a comforting snack.
