Ingredients

  • chicken breast – 1 lb / 450 g
  • cornstarch – 1 cup / 130 g
  • egg – 2 large
  • soy sauce – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
  • sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 g
  • rice vinegar – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
  • sesame oil – 1 tbsp / 15 ml
  • ketchup – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
  • garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • ginger – 1 tbsp, grated
  • green onions – 2, sliced
  • sesame seeds – 2 tbsp / 18 g
  • vegetable oil – for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Whisk the eggs in a bowl. Dip the chicken pieces into the egg and then coat with cornstarch.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan and fry the chicken pieces until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate pan, combine soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ketchup, garlic, and ginger. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Add the fried chicken pieces to the sauce and toss well to coat.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
