Ingredients
- red bird’s eye chili peppers – 10 pcs
- shallots – 4 pcs / 200 g
- garlic cloves – 3 pcs / 15 g
- tomatoes – 2 large / 400 g
- fresh lime juice – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
- salt – 1 tsp / 6 g
- sugar – 1 tsp / 5 g
- shrimp paste (terasi) – 1 tsp / 5 g
- vegetable oil – 1 tbsp / 15 ml
Instructions
- Finely chop the red bird’s eye chili peppers, shallots, and garlic cloves.
- Dice the tomatoes into small pieces.
- In a blender, combine the chilies, shallots, garlic, and tomatoes. Add the lime juice, salt, sugar, and shrimp paste. Blend until roughly smooth.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the blended mixture into the pan and cook for about 5 minutes until fragrant.
- Transfer the mixture to a heatproof dish and steam for 15 minutes to deepen flavors.
- Serve warm or at room temperature alongside your favorite dishes.
