Ingredients

  • olive oil – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
  • onion – 1 small, finely chopped
  • garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • canned tomato sauce – 1 cup / 250 ml
  • smoked paprika – 1 tablespoon / 7 g
  • cayenne pepper – 1/2 teaspoon / 1 g
  • salt – 1/2 teaspoon / 3 g
  • sugar – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
  • red wine vinegar – 1 tablespoon / 15 ml

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Pour in the canned tomato sauce and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and sugar, stirring well to combine.
  6. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Stir in red wine vinegar, adjusting seasoning to taste.
  8. Allow the sauce to cool slightly, then blend until smooth using an immersion blender.
