Prianik is a traditional Russian sweet bread, deeply rooted in centuries-old baking traditions. Ingredients
- honey – 1 cup / 340 g
- brown sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 g
- butter – 1/2 cup / 113 g
- all-purpose flour – 3 1/2 cups / 420 g
- baking soda – 1 teaspoon / 4 g
- ground cinnamon – 1 teaspoon / 2 g
- ground ginger – 1 teaspoon / 2 g
- ground cloves – 1/2 teaspoon / 1 g
- milk – 1/2 cup / 120 ml
- egg – 1
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, honey, and brown sugar over low heat. Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, adding the milk and egg to form a dough.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into preferred shapes.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
