Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour – 2 cups / 240 g
  • butter – 1/2 cup / 113 g chilled, cubed
  • salt – 1/2 tsp
  • cold water – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
  • guava paste – 8 oz / 227 g
  • cream cheese – 4 oz / 113 g
  • egg – 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • sugar – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add cold water to the mixture, stirring until the dough begins to come together.
  4. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into circles using a 5-inch cutter.
  6. Place a piece of guava paste and a small dollop of cream cheese on each dough circle.

  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
