Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 2.5 cups / 375 g
- granulated sugar – 3 tbsp / 37 g
- salted butter – 1 cup / 225 g
- whole milk – 1 cup / 240 ml
- active dry yeast – 2 tsp
- ground cinnamon – 2 tbsp
- brown sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 g
- egg – 1 large
- vanilla extract – 1 tsp
Instructions
- Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C) and mix in the yeast, allowing it to dissolve and bubble for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and granulated sugar. Cut in 1/2 cup (115 g) of butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the milk and yeast mixture along with the egg and vanilla extract. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the remaining butter on the dough and sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough into a log from the long side and cut into 6 even pieces.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the pastries for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.
