Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour – 2 cups / 240 g
  • Water – 3/4 cup / 180 ml
  • Ground chicken – 1 cup / 250 g
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1/2 cup / 75 g
  • Ginger, minced – 1 tbsp / 5 g
  • Garlic, minced – 1 tbsp / 5 g
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
  • Salt – 1 tsp / 5 g
  • Black pepper – 1/2 tsp / 1.5 g
  • Cabbage, shredded – 1/2 cup / 75 g
  • Cilantro, chopped – 2 tbsp / 6 g

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and water to form a smooth dough. Knead for 5-7 minutes, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. For the filling, mix ground chicken, onion, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, cabbage, and cilantro in a separate bowl.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a thin circle of about 3 inches.
  4. Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of the dough circle. Pleat the edges and seal to form a momo shape.
  5. Steam the momos in a steamer for about 12-15 minutes.

Substitutions

  • Ground chicken -> Ground turkey or chopped vegetables for a vegetarian version
  • All-purpose flour -> Whole wheat flour
