Mogolla is a traditional Colombian bread that delights with its soft texture and subtle sweetness. Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 3 cups / 360 g
- milk – 1 cup / 240 ml
- sugar – 3 tbsp / 38 g
- dry yeast – 1 tbsp / 9 g
- salt – 1 tsp / 6 g
- butter – 4 tbsp / 56 g
- egg – 1 large
Instructions
- Warm the milk gently until lukewarm and dissolve the sugar and yeast in it. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Combine into a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm location for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch the dough down and divide into 4-6 equal pieces. Shape each into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
- Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
