  • warm water – 1 cup / 240 ml
  • dry yeast – 2 tsp / 7 g
  • sugar – 1 tbsp / 12 g
  • salt – 1 tsp / 6 g
  • yogurt – 1/2 cup / 120 g
  • egg – 1

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  3. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls, flatten each into a disk, then fry in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve warm topped with powdered sugar, or alongside your choice of jam or cheese.
