Maple BBQ Salmon is a delightful fusion of sweet and savory flavors, originating from the rich culinary traditions of North America where maple syrup is a cherished staple. This dish pairs the natural sweetness of maple syrup with the umami depth of barbecue sauce, creating a harmonious glaze that perfectly accents the rich, oily texture of salmon. Ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions, this recipe promises a taste that is both comforting and gourmet.

Ingredients

  • Salmon filets – 4 filets / roughly 600 g
  • Maple syrup – 1/3 cup / 80 ml

  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon / 15 ml
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon / 2.5 g

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together maple syrup, BBQ sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.
  3. Place salmon filets on a large piece of foil, skin-side down.
  4. Brush each filet generously with the maple BBQ glaze.
  5. Fold the foil over the salmon and seal the edges to create a packet.
  6. Grill for 15-18 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Open the foil packet and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes to slightly caramelize the glaze.
  8. Carefully remove from the grill and garnish with chopped chives before serving.
