Majadito is a traditional Bolivian dish rooted in the rich culinary history of the Santa Cruz region. Ingredients
- beef chuck – 1 lb / 450 g
- vegetable oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
- onion, finely chopped – 1 large
- garlic cloves, minced – 4
- green bell pepper, diced – 1
- tomato, chopped – 2 medium
- long-grain white rice – 1 cup / 200 g
- beef broth – 3 cups / 720 ml
- cumin powder – 1 tsp / 5 g
- paprika – 1 tsp / 5 g
- salt – to taste
- black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef chuck and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, add onions and garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add the green bell pepper and tomatoes. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Stir in the rice, ensuring it’s well-coated with the vegetable mixture.
- Return the beef to the pot. Pour in the beef broth and add cumin and paprika. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer until the rice is cooked and the beef is tender, about 25-30 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy your authentically Bolivian Majadito.
