Ingredients
- All-purpose flour – 4 cups / 480 g
- Active dry yeast – 2 1/4 tsp / 7 g
- Sugar – 1/4 cup / 50 g
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Warm water – 1 cup / 240 ml
- Coconut milk – 1 1/2 cups / 360 ml
- Butter – 1/4 cup / 56 g
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture, followed by 1 cup of coconut milk and melted butter. Knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and shape each into a ball.
- Place the buns in a greased baking dish, slightly touching each other.
- Brush the tops with remaining coconut milk.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm to savor the soft, coconut-infused flavor.
