Ingredients
- beef chuck – 1.5 lbs / 680 g
- water – 10 cups / 2.4 L
- carrots, diced – 2 medium / 200 g
- potatoes, cut into chunks – 3 large / 450 g
- onion, chopped – 1 large / 150 g
- cabbage, shredded – 2 cups / 200 g
- bay leaves – 2 leaves
- peppercorns – 10 whole
- salt – 1 tablespoon / 15 g
- black pepper – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
- dill, chopped – 1/4 cup / 15 g
Instructions
- Cut the beef chuck into large chunks and place in a large pot.
- Add 10 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.
- Reduce to a simmer and skim off any foam on the surface.
- Add the carrots, potatoes, onion, cabbage, bay leaves, peppercorns, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Garnish with chopped dill before serving.
