Ingredients

  • ground pork – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
  • ground beef – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
  • onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
  • garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • egg – 1 large
  • breadcrumbs – 1 cup / 110 g
  • milk – 1/2 cup / 120 ml
  • salt – 1 teaspoon
  • black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • nutmeg – 1/4 teaspoon
  • oil or butter – 2 tablespoons
  • beef stock – 2 cups / 480 ml
  • flour – 3 tablespoons
  • fresh parsley – for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, and milk. Mix until just combined.
  2. Season the meat mixture with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix gently to incorporate the spices.
  3. Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
  4. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and brown on all sides, about 3-5 minutes per batch.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Add flour to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the beef stock, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes until cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
