Ingredients
- ground pork – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
- ground beef – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
- onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
- garlic – 2 cloves, minced
- egg – 1 large
- breadcrumbs – 1 cup / 110 g
- milk – 1/2 cup / 120 ml
- salt – 1 teaspoon
- black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
- nutmeg – 1/4 teaspoon
- oil or butter – 2 tablespoons
- beef stock – 2 cups / 480 ml
- flour – 3 tablespoons
- fresh parsley – for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, and milk. Mix until just combined.
- Season the meat mixture with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix gently to incorporate the spices.
- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and brown on all sides, about 3-5 minutes per batch.
- Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- Add flour to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the beef stock, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes until cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
