Karukan, a renowned Japanese sweet bread, hails from the southern region of Kyushu. Ingredients
- Yam flour – 1 cup / 100 g
- Rice flour – 1 cup / 120 g
- Sugar – 1 cup / 200 g
- Water – 1 1/4 cup / 300 ml
Instructions
- Preheat your steamer by bringing water to a boil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine yam flour and rice flour.
- Gradually add sugar to the flour mixture, stirring until thoroughly combined.
- Slowly incorporate water into the mixture, continuing to stir until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
- Steam for 40-45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before removing from the pan. Slice and serve.
