Ingredients

  • ground beef – 1 lb / 450 g
  • salt – 1 teaspoon / 4 g
  • black pepper – 1 teaspoon / 2 g
  • green chiles, roasted and chopped – 1 cup / 120 g
  • cheddar cheese, sliced – 4 slices / 120 g
  • hamburger buns – 4
  • mayonnaise – 1/4 cup / 60 g
  • lettuce – 4 leaves
  • tomato, sliced – 1 medium / 150 g

Instructions

  1. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, and divide into 4 equal patties.
  2. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  3. Top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese during the last 1-2 minutes of cooking to let it melt.
  4. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or skillet until lightly browned.
  5. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf and tomato slice on the bottom half.
  6. Add the beef patty and top with a generous scoop of roasted green chiles.
  7. Place the top bun over the assembled burger and serve immediately.
