Ingredients

  • phyllo dough – 10 sheets
  • ground beef – 250 g / 9 oz
  • onion, finely chopped – 1 medium
  • olive oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
  • butter, melted – 100 g / 7 tbsp
  • salt – 1 tsp
  • black pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • fresh parsley, chopped – 1/4 cup / 15 g
  • egg, for egg wash – 1 large
  • sesame seeds – 2 tbsp / 20 g

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef, cook until browned, and season with salt and black pepper. Stir in parsley and set aside to cool.
  4. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter.
  5. Place another sheet on top and brush with butter again.
  6. Spread a thin line of the beef mixture along one edge, then roll up the dough into a log.
  7. Starting at one end, gently coil the log into a spiral, forming a rose shape.
  8. Place the shaped pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over them.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  11. Serve warm, enjoying the delicate layers and rich filling.
