Ingredients

  • beef sirloin – 500 g / 1.1 lbs
  • onion – 1 large, finely chopped
  • butter – 2 tbsp
  • tomato sauce – 1/2 cup / 120 ml
  • heavy cream – 1 cup / 240 ml
  • mustard – 1 tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp
  • salt – to taste
  • black pepper – to taste
  • batata palha (crispy potato sticks) – for serving
  • cooked white rice – for serving

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until soft and translucent.
  3. Increase the heat to high, add the beef strips, and sear until browned on all sides.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and stir in the tomato sauce, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the heavy cream, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, accompanied by cooked white rice and a generous handful of batata palha on top.
