Ingredients
- Chana dal – 1 cup / 200 g
- Whole wheat flour – 2 cups / 240 g
- Vegetable oil – 4 tablespoons / 60 ml
- Water – as needed for dough
- Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
- Ginger paste – 1 teaspoon
- Green chili – 1, finely chopped
- Salt – to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the chana dal and pressure cook it with a pinch of turmeric until soft. Drain any excess water.
- In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add ginger paste and green chilies.
- Add the cooked dal, turmeric, and salt to the pan. Mix well and cook until the mixture dries out. Let it cool.
- Make a soft dough using whole wheat flour, remaining oil, and water. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal portions. Stuff each portion with the dal mixture and roll it into small puris.
- Deep fry in hot oil until golden and crisp. Serve hot.
