- Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
- Heavy cream – 1 cup / 240 ml
- Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch – 2 tablespoons / 16 g
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until just melted. Let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the milk mixture and egg, mixing to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
- To make the filling, heat the heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Let it cool completely.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Flatten each piece, spoon some cream in the center, and seal tightly.
- Place on baking sheet, seam side down, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
