  • salt – to taste
  • pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into thick chips.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or fryer to 175°C / 350°F.
  3. Fry the chips in batches until golden and crisp, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  4. Drain the chips on paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Prepare the gravy according to the packet instructions, using the water to make it smooth and thick.
  6. Place the hot chips on a serving platter, sprinkle with grated Cheddar cheese, and pour the hot gravy over the top.
  7. Serve immediately, ensuring the cheese melts into the luscious gravy.
