Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked) – 2 cups / 330 g
  • Onion (chopped) – 1 cup / 150 g
  • Tomatoes (chopped) – 1 1/2 cups / 225 g
  • Garlic cloves (minced) – 4 cloves
  • Ginger (minced) – 1 tbsp / 15 g
  • Green chili (finely chopped) – 1
  • Oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp / 5 g
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp / 5 g
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp / 2.5 g
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp / 5 g
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp / 2.5 g
  • Salt – to taste
  • Cilantro (chopped) – 1/4 cup / 10 g
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp / 15 ml

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Sauté until they splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in minced garlic, ginger, and green chili, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices.
  5. Mix in coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and red chili powder. Cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add cooked chickpeas and salt. Stir well to combine.
  7. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the chickpeas absorb the flavors.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and drizzle lemon juice before serving.

  • Green chili -> Jalapeño
  • Lemon juice -> Lime juice
