Ingredients
- piranha fish – 500 g / 1 lb
- water – 4 cups / 960 ml
- onion – 1 medium, chopped
- tomato – 2 medium, chopped
- bell pepper – 1 medium, chopped
- garlic – 3 cloves, minced
- cilantro – 1/4 cup / 10 g, chopped
- olive oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
- lime – 1, juiced
- salt – to taste
- black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Clean the piranha fish thoroughly, removing scales and entrails.
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper, sauté until soft and translucent.
- Add tomatoes and cook until softened.
- Add the cleaned piranha fish to the pot, pour in water, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour, allowing flavors to meld.
- Remove fish from the broth, debone and shred the meat. Return the meat to the pot.
- Add cilantro and lime juice, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra cilantro if desired.
