- Onion – 1, large / 150 g
- Bay leaves – 2 leaves
- Cloves – 4 whole
- Salt – 2 teaspoons / 10 g
- Pepper – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
Instructions
- In a large pot, place the beef brisket and cover with water. Add the bay leaves and cloves.
- Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook the beef for about 2 hours until tender.
- Peel and chop the carrots, turnips, and potatoes into large chunks. Cut the cabbage into wedges. Slice the onion.
- Add the vegetables to the pot with the beef and season with salt and pepper.
- Continue simmering for an additional hour, or until all the vegetables are tender.
- Remove the bay leaves and cloves before serving. Serve hot with crusty bread.
