Ingredients

  • active dry yeast – 2 1/4 tsp / 7 g
  • salt – 1 tsp
  • eggs – 2 large
  • vegetable oil – for frying
  • dulce de leche – 1 cup / 320 g

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and add the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/3 inch thickness and cut into circles using a doughnut cutter.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown on each side.
  8. Drain on paper towels and let cool slightly. Fill a piping bag with dulce de leche and inject into each doughnut.
