Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 4 cups / 480 g
- unsalted butter, melted – 1 cup / 225 g
- warm water – 1 cup / 240 ml
- active dry yeast – 1 tablespoon / 9 g
- sugar – 1 tablespoon / 12 g
- salt – 1 teaspoon / 5 g
- honey – 1/2 cup / 170 g
- nigella seeds – 2 tablespoons / 16 g
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Gradually add warm water and knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into thin sheets and layer them in a greased baking pan, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- Continue layering until all dough is used, ensuring each layer is buttered.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, immediately drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with nigella seeds before serving.
