Ingredients
- beef steaks – 4, approximately 150g each
- salt – 1 tsp / 5g
- black pepper – 1/2 tsp / 2g
- all-purpose flour – 1/2 cup / 65g
- eggs – 2, beaten
- breadcrumbs – 1 cup / 120g
- olive oil – 1/4 cup / 60ml
- garlic cloves – 2, minced
- canned tomatoes – 400g / 1 can
- dried oregano – 1 tsp / 1g
- mozzarella cheese – 200g, sliced
- Parmesan cheese – 50g, grated
- fresh basil – for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Season the beef steaks with salt and pepper.
- Dust the steaks with flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the breaded steaks until golden brown on both sides. Place on a baking dish.
- In the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add canned tomatoes and oregano, simmer for 10 minutes. Season to taste.
- Pour the tomato sauce over the steaks, top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
