Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 5 cups / 640 g
- sugar – 2 tbsp / 25 g
- salt – 2 tsp / 10 g
- dry active yeast – 1 tbsp / 9 g
- warm water – 2 cups / 480 ml
- vegetable oil – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
- Gradually mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round loaf.
- Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the loaves for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before serving.
