Ingredients

  • firm tofu – 500 g / 17.6 oz
  • vegetable oil – for frying
  • soy sauce – 1/4 cup / 60 ml
  • mirin – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
  • green onions – 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • grated ginger – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing a weight on top for 30 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into thick slices, approximately 1 1/2 inches wide.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the tofu slices until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, and grated ginger to create a dipping sauce.
  6. Serve the fried tofu with the dipping sauce, garnished with finely chopped green onions.
